Ladybrand Information

The settlement of Ladybrand was created by Voortrekkers to give them control over the territories conquered and captured after the above mentioned Basotho war. In 1900, during the Second Anglo-Boer War, Ladybrand came under the control of the British.

The Catharina Museum houses collections of tools dating back to the Stone Age and locally discovered fossils. Ladybrand was founded in 1867 after Basotho Wars. Ladybrand offers spectacular mountain scenery and a base to visit the Golden Gate National Park. There are many hiking trails in the surrounding mountains
